Jason Falkner
Can You Still Feel?

Here's where you can impress us with your musical knowledge.  Quick, name the psychedelic, late 80's/early 90's rock band whose debut album featured Jason Falkner on guitar.  [don't cheat and look ahead until you have your guess] ...

If you correctly guessed Jellyfish, then this is going to be an easy buying decision for you (assuming you're a Jellyfish fan), just click on the shopping cart below and buy this disc.  Not that this album by the former Jellyfish guitar player sounds like the '91 Bellybutton release mind you, the argument is more along the lines of the following.  If you truly appreciate the beauty and the shear genius of Bellybutton, you'll pick this disc up and immediately see the same type of underlying source - creative, fearless songwriting set in a grand production.

This disc is a seemingly straight forward but intelligently crafted pop rock complete with big hooks and hum along choruses. But just when when you think it can't get any campier, ole Jason throws a clever bridge complete with a round of la-la-la's and light hearted harpsichord then breaks back into the chorus in Keith Partridge like falsetto.  And it leaves you crying with joy.  Then you hit See You Again (8) and it hits like a wave of anesthesia, floats your head among the clouds like a big balloon and you just want to kill yourself because it can't get any better than this, can it?

The battery of our laptop is dying as we fly over the Sierra Nevada's and bank into the Bay Area for a midnight landing at SFO. We close down down our laptop, turn off the overhead light, and rest our forehead against the small oval window as Can You Still Feel? winds down with the bittersweet ballad Goodnight Sweet Night.  Over the wing of the 737 the soft yellow glow of the Bay Area warms the underbellies of some fat clouds hanging around while endless stars shine down from above ... and we're reminded that god/spirit/nature - whatever you want to call it - does exist.

By the way, did we mention that JF does all of the instruments, vocals and noises on this disc?
